Almost two-thirds of Russians believe that the bear is the most suitable symbol of Russia, according to the survey done by the Public Opinion Foundation.
65% of the polled people chose bear as a symbol of Russia, while18% of respondents find this symbol inappropriate, and 17% are undecided.
Most supporters of the bear live in Moscow (75%) and Siberia (71%). The animal was also supported more by men (70%) than women (61%). Choosing a bear, people underlined its strength, reports TASS news agency.
At the same time, the people who believe that this symbol of Russia is not good enough could not clearly explain their position though some of them mentioned that the animal could be associated with the rudeness and aggressiveness.
