One of the possible reasons for the mass death of bees could be the misuse of pesticides and agrochemicals, reports the Russian ministry of agriculture. For example, the chemicals could have been used during the day without noting the beekeepers.
Also, farmers could have switch to more dangerous chemicals writes RBC media refering to the officials. This could have been done because of the increased pest resistance.
The Russian ministry of agriculture considers it necessary that the affected beekeepers accurately determine the cause of the bees death in each particular case.
The compensation can be obtained through the courts if it's proven that the bees died due to the incorrect poisons use, summed up the ministry representatives.
The mass death of bees was noted in Volga region and Central Russia: Bashkiria, Mari El, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Ulyanovsk, Kursk and Tula regions.
