The meeting between Russian and Ukraine leaders will not be productive without a meaningful agenda, however, Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to negotiate this option with Vladimir Zelensky, stated the Russian leader's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

In this way the Kremlin's representative commented on the proposal made by the former Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to hold the meeting of Russian and Ukrainian presidents in the central Asian republic.

Putin would like to restore the relations but it is impossible to do it without reciprocity on the part of Kiev, explained Dmitry Peskov.

According to the Kremlin spokesperson, Putin said that he never refuses such meetings, however, a meeting for the sake of just meeting up will be of little use. Moscow is currently focused on getting ready for the «Normandy Four» summit, underlined the spokesman.

Also, Dmitry Peskov expressed gratitude to the first president of Kazakhstan and praised his efforts to «restore Russo-Ukrainian relations,» reports Interfax news agency.

The Kremlin representative was asked if he agrees that «the problem should be solved only between the two states» — Russia and Ukraine.

The conflict in the East of Ukraine should be settled by Ukraine itself and cannot be resolved between Kiev and Moscow because Moscow is not involved in this conflict. In this case, of course, this problem would be resolved much more effectively through direct contacts between Kiev and representatives of self-proclaimed republics, underlined Dmitry Peskov.

Kazakhstan's first president Nursultan Nazarbayev invited Russian and Ukrainian leaders to meet in the central Asian republic. According to the politician, Vladimir Zelensky has already agreed to this offer, wrote News.ru earlier.
