The release of a Russian-made vaccine against coronavirus is expected in September 2020, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova during a briefing in the government, NEWS.ru reports.

Manufacturers expect to register the drug in August, she noted.

Gamaleya Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology works in collaboration with the 48th Institute of the Ministry of Defense. The period of conducting clinical trials is June - August 2020, she said.

The World Health Organization (WHO) previously stated that the European vaccine against COVID-19 might also be ready in the fall. It is a joint development of the University of Oxford and the Italian company IRBM. In the meantime, the US plans to carry out the final clinical trial of three coronavirus vaccines in the summer.
