Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov announced the possibility of connecting the Russian gas system to the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP).
I want to congratulate Azerbaijan on the launch of the TANAP project; this is a great success. Azerbaijan has invested in it and can now reap its benefits. Who knows, maybe our gas will flow through the TANAP system one day, I wouldn't exclude it, reports Rossiya Segodnya media quoting Russian diplomat.
Mikhail Bocharnikov also added that today both Azerbaijan and Russia are oil and gas countries. Cooperation between the two states will bring benefits to both parties.
According to the experts, the TANAP pipeline can pump some 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year, six of which go to Turkey and the rest — to European countries.
Earlier, NEWS.ru reported that Turkey started receiving the Russian gas through Bulgaria.
