Implementing the Nord Stream-2 project is essential for Germany to ensure energy supply for many years, member of the Berlin parliament from the party Alternative for Germany (AfD) Gunnar Lindemann has said.

According to him, the refusal to build the gas pipeline and the transition to the US gas will inevitably lead to a rapid increase in energy supply prices. In this situation, the victims will be ordinary German citizens, who have already lost their income due to the coronavirus pandemic, Lindemann said in an interview with Vechernyaya Moskva.

Only cheaper gas from Russia can provide energy supply in the long run. This is precisely what the AfD has long been calling for. Germany needs Nord Stream2. Because without Russian gas, the Germans will plunge into darkness, the deputy stressed.

He also recalled that electricity and energy in Germany already cost twice as much as in other EU countries.
