Gazprom, Russian gas exporting giant, reported about completing the construction of 2042 km of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The company plans to put the new export system into operation by the end of the year.


The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline continues. At the moment, 2042 km of the gas pipelines have been laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea which is 83% of its total length, reports TASS news agency quoting the company's representative.

This project involves the construction of two pipelines from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. Its capacity will be 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year, the construction cost is estimated at €9.5 billion.
