Russia and Belarus have reached an agreement on gas debt payoff, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.
According to him, Minsk can settle the debt to Moscow within a month. An agreement in this direction has been reached.
In general, based on our conversations with the Energy and Finance Minister [of Belarus], it is expected in September. Maybe it will happen earlier than at the end of the month, TASS quotes Novak.
He stressed that there are still 'many technical issues' in this matter.
The Belarusian side is working on reconciling debts and looking for funding sources, the Russian minister said.
NEWS.ru reported earlier that gold and foreign exchange reserves of Belarus fell 15.8% in August.
