Roskosmos is working on creating a moon station that would track space debris, stated the head of the Russian Space Corporation Dmitry Rogozin.

According to the official, the project would require attracting additional funds.

We see the possibility of creating an astronomical observatory on the Moon, which would study the near-Earth orbit space, reports Interfax news agency quoting Rogozin.

At the moment, several Russian stations located in the region of Kislovodsk, Ussuriysk, and Abrau-Durso already operate as a part of the space debris-tracking automated system.

Similar stations track the data from Armenia and Brazil, while more will appear in Chile, Mexico, and South Africa in the coming year.

Earlier, NEWS.ru reported that Roskosmos planed to develop the moon «elevator.»
