Lukashenko: West involving Russia in overthrowing system in Belarus

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said that the West is ready to involve Russia in influencing the republic’s authorities to overthrow the system but doesn’t know how to do it, BelTA reports.

Recently, western states have been very concerned about the further development of Belarus and are building different schemes to influence the Belarusian government and the president to overthrow the current government. They have reached the point and are ready to involve Russia in this process, but they do not know how (I make this statement based on the ironclad, as they say in China, facts). In this regard, I want to say that the Belarusian president can be removed from office. It can be done. I can tell you how. There is only one way: it is only the Belarusian people who can do it based on the current laws and the Belarusian Constitution, Lukashenko said.

Accepting the credentials of foreign states’ ambassadors, Lukashenko stressed that Belarus is very interested in ‘non-conflict and effective cooperation’ with other countries, including Western ones.

Protests in Belarus have been going on since early August. The reason is the official results of the presidential elections. The protesters disagree with the re-election of Alexander Lukashenko. They are confident that the results were falsified and that the real winner was the united opposition candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. The protesters demand Lukashenko’s resignation and new elections.

The Special Purpose Police Detachment (OMON) of Belarus and the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption (MDCOCC) of the Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry will be recognized as terrorist organizations, the leader of the Belarusian opposition Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said earlier, reported.
