The Azerbaijani president announced the beginning of a big comeback to Nagorno-Karabakh and the start of the region's revival.
A great return is starting; all [rebuilding] work has begun, he said.
The politician made such a statement during the groundbreaking ceremony for the international airport in the Fizuli region of Karabakh, the website of the head of state says. He noted that at the moment, restoration work has begun in the city of Shusha to revive the historical image of the city.
Aliyev also visited Shusha, where he returned the busts of famous 19th-century poetess Khurshidbanu Natavan, composer, founder of professional Azerbaijani music Uzeyir Hajibeyov and opera singer Bulbul. All these people were born in Shusha. Their monuments were taken to Armenia in the early 1990s, then bought out by Azerbaijan, and kept in the art museum in Baku.
